Changing My Tune

Integrative Health & Wellness

Have you ever felt like your mind just runs on a loop, and replays incidents and things spoken to you over and over like a broken record, especially the bad and hurtful ones? You want to get over it, but every time you start moving forward, that thing skips and goes on a repeat cycle.

For years I struggled with the battle of the repeat cycle in my mind. Every conversation, argument, uncomfortable incident, rejection, disappointment, and everything I should have said would play relentlessly over and over again in my mind. Often times it replayed so much, especially when I was quiet and by myself, that literally I would start responding out loud as if the incident were happening right then and there. It was something that made me feel bad, yet something I had no clue how to stop. I couldn’t seem to pray it away, wish it away, or even throw it away for that matter, believe me, I tried.

Then one day, I discovered a technique I like to call “Talk Back.” I was blessed to learn the principle of the Law of Attraction along with some practical ways to apply it in my life and in my thinking. So, I took that and coupled it with a Sunday school scripture I learned that said the power of life and death is in your tongue, and started to talk back to those negative soundtracks. In doing this, I began to take my power back and created a new song.

Here’s how it works, when the song in your head says, “Nobody will ever love you,” then you talk back and say, “I am surrounded by love.” If it says, “You can’t do this,” then you proclaim, “Yes I can, because The Lord is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies.” Every time negative thoughts and imaginations try to come in like a flood, you talk back declaring what it will be. Today, make your declaration, “I will cast down every thought and imagination that tries to exalt itself above the knowledge of God.” It’s time to take your power back!

As always, I thank you for stopping by. Remember today is a great day to make a difference in the lives of those around you. Until next time…
